Library
John Muir Elementary School houses a beautiful, comprehensive, and interactive library for its students. Located on the second floor, the library’s shelves of books alongside views of treetops out of the windows create a warm and inviting environment.
All students visit the library and our librarian, Ms. L, with their class every week.
Students are free to read and check out any book in the library. Ms. L’s goal is for students to develop a love for reading and a sense of ownership over their own reading.
The library has its own website, http://library.berkeleyschools.net/john-muir-marian-altman-library, with links to our on-line book catalog, the Berkeley Public Library, on-line encyclopedias and a historic photo site (Calisphere).
Ms. L has also posted some additional information about the curriculum, rules, and contacts: https://johnmuirlibrary.berkeley.net/about-the-library
